The care is a step above the rest! Not only is Theresa naturally a pet whisperer, she is a Certified Professional Pet Sitter with the National Association of Professional Pet Sitters and is a Fear Free Certified Professional. Additionally, she is Pet CPR and First Aid trained and continues her learning with annual online and in-person seminars and conferences. Theresa is currently studying with CATCH Canine Trainers Academy.
All employees are background checked prior to hiring. They are trained as certified pet sitters and complete Pet CPR and First Aid training during the first month of employment. They receive ongoing professional development in dog and cat body language and safety. Employees who care for small pets (not dogs and cats- reptiles, birds, rabbits, etc) have training on those pets’ unique needs and are assigned based on their expertise and experience.
Initial Consultation
At the initial consultation appointment, new clients and their pets meet with Theresa to develop pet-specific care plans, complete our intake forms, exchange keys or alternate home access instructions, and sign service agreements. We value getting to know you and your pets’ needs- no rushing through! Whether it’s daily dog walking, or homes with multiple species of pets, our initial consultations will leave you with the peace of mind you deserve when choosing a service provider for your precious pets.

Get your dog on our Adventure Hikes list! We take your dog on a 90-minute field trip to one of two beautiful locations – Belle Haven Park & Marina or Huntley Meadows Park. Upon arrival, your dog will get to have more than a walk, he/she gets to be out in nature with new sights and sounds and smells! Your dog is on-leash throughout the experience, with sniffari stops and water breaks along the way. At the end of the experience, your pup is returned to your home to snooze away the rest of the day! Best of all, there are no additional transport fees!

15-Minute In-Home Visit
Perfect for shy kitties, quick potty breaks for dogs, or check in visits for small pets such as hamsters and guinea pigs.
Keep your pet on their schedule and routine in the comfort of their own home! Our pet sitters are booked on a consistent schedule and your pet gets to relax in their home environment to get some much needed enrichment everyday while you’re away. Our pet sitters not only provide food and water and clean litter boxes, they monitor your pet’s health, ensure they have safe and sanitary conditions, and administer medications according to your specifications. These shorter in-home daily visits may be best for shy cats, quick backyard potty breaks for dogs, or daily care for small pets. Our team has been trained to care for a variety of pets such as dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, reptiles & amphibians, fish, and pocket pets.

Perfect for a long day away, vacation care for single or multi-cat homes, and homes with pets with unique care needs such as birds and reptiles.

Bed and Breakfast Service
Option 1: Two hour evening visit (7-9pm, 7:30-9:30, or 8-10pm) plus an additional morning 60 minute visit

Midday visits can be added as a vacation care total package.

Theresa stays at your home for 12 continuous hours and cares for your furry family members- includes full attention, enrichment and play, evening and morning walks and potty breaks, feedings and water, medication administration when required, basic home care needs such as mail pick up, watering flowers and plants.

House Sitting
Rest assured your home is safe and maintained while you are away. Although we are not caring for your pets, we are happy to care for your home and property. From plant watering (interior and/or exterior) to mail and package pick up, we will make sure everything is in order on the premises and inside your home. This service can be booked on an as-needed basis during your travels.

Boarding at Theresa’s home*
Daily rates calculated from midnight to midnight
Your furry family member is lovingly welcomed into Theresa’s home- includes 4 daily walks, playtime, feeding and continuous access to water, and medication administration when required. This is not 24 hour continuous care. Theresa must be able to visit scheduled clients during the day. Dogs accepted for boarding must not be destructive and able to safely co-exist with other dogs when necessary.
**Exclusive board option exists to ensure a dog is boarded without any additional dogs.
Client provides crate (when applicable), food, approved treats and toys, and medications for the duration of the stay. Special bed/ blankets are always welcome.
Cat boarding includes daily brushing, enrichment and playtimes, and any medications (transdermal, oral medications, insulin injections)
Drop off and Pick up is the client’s responsibility. Pet Taxi can be arranged when needed.
Earliest drop off time: 7am

Additional Service Fees
Medication Administration
Prior to administering some medications, such as insulin, visits need to be scheduled prior to any scheduled pet sit to develop your pet’s specific plan for proper administration and be sure the pet is tolerant to the sitter’s administration of the medication under the conditions presented.. Note: visit fees apply.
Pet Taxi Service
Short on time? Flight delays? Car trouble? Theresa can pick up and drop off your pets when booking boarding services.
*10 mile radius. Additional mileage beyond is charged per mile at the current federal rate (currently 65.5 cents a mile).

Visits Outside of Business Hours
Any visit requested to start between 6-8am (Early Morning) and/or 8pm or later (Late Evening) are charged an additional service fee.

Pets Are Family Pet Sitting Services LLC follows all federal holidays and charges $15 for each service booked on national and cultural/religious holidays and peak holiday booking periods as follows:
